Million dollar man
Olympic 200m silver medalist, Richard Thompson and his silver medal winning 4x100m relay teammates were scheduled to be toasted in Tobago.
The celebration was the final leg in the Government organised four-day programme to honour the athletes for their outstanding performances in the Beijing Olympics.
Earlier in the week, Prime Minister Patrick Manning on behalf of the Government announced the monetary rewards each athlete would receive for their performance.
They each received $750,000 (about 125,000 USD) of which $500.000 (about 83,500 USD) will be in cash and $250,000 (about 41,500 USD) in units from the Unit Trust Corporation. Thompson who was the undoubted hero of the quintet will receive an additional $250,000 (about 41,500 USD) in cash to be dubbed the 'Million Dollar Man' by Prime Manning.
