Meadows takes pole position in 800m World Rankings

For the first time in her career Jennifer Meadows takes pole position in the latest edition of the All-Athletics.com Women’s 800m World Rankings.

Meadows ran a new British indoor record last Sunday at the Aviva Indoor Grand Prix in Birmingham and it helped her to overtake previous leader, Russian Mariya Savinova. Italy's Elisa Cusma-Piccione and Anna Pierce (Willard) of the USA are taking 3rd and 4th positions respectively.

Elsewhere:

* 2010 Indoor Top List leader (6.87m) 19-year-old Russian Darya Klishina moves up to 15th in Women’s Long Jump ranking. Last year Klishina's best was 6.80m that she jumped when she won the European Junior Championships in Novi Sad.

* Mare Dibaba returned to homeland Ethiopia and with two UAE half marathons (Abu Dhabi and Ras Al Khaimah) she went to the 3rd spot in Women’s Road running

* RAK Half Marathon winner Geoffrey Mutai of Kenya entered the Men’s Road running rankings in 4th position

* New European Indoor 3000m record holder Sergio Sanchez of Spain increased his Ranking Score to 1203 (he had 1172 points at the end of 2009), and he is currently the 2nd in the All-Athletics.com European 5000m (3000m) Ranking.

* During a very good indoor season what he has had so far, Petr Svoboda of the Czech Republic overtook the 2009 year-end European 110m hurdles Ranking leader William Sharman of Great-Britain and the Czech is the current Nr.1 European male high hurdler.
