Vlašić takes over women’s overall lead
Jessica Ennis’ number one position lasted only a week as Blanka Vlašić took over the lead in the latest All-Athletics.com Women’s Overall World Ranking, published on 16 June. With her victory at the Golden Gala in Rome, the Croatian high jumper improved her Ranking Score by 3 points and overtook Ennis by a single point.
World number one Shot putter Valerie Vili of New Zealand has progressed from 7th to 4th position in the Women’s Overall Ranking.
Asafa Powell is in shape. The Jamaican sprinter has yet again improved his score and overtook Tyson Gay both in the Men’s Overall Ranking and in the 100m. Now he is second in both rankings.
400m Hurdles number one, Kerron Clement, moved from 8th to 7th in the Men’s Overall Ranking.
There are three new event leaders compared to last week:
- Piotr Małachowski is the new ranking leader in the Men’s Discus Throw
- Lashinda Demus took first position in the Women’s 400m Hurdles
- Barbora Špotáková leads now the ranking in the Women’s Javelin throw
