Stats of European Indoors - day 3
A compilation of some interesting facts after the third and final day of the 2011 European Indoor Championships.
Men's Heptathlon:
* The winning margin, 45 points is the smallest ever in the history of the European Indoor Championships (EICH), replacing the 69 points differential by Sebrle from 2007.
* The difference between 3rd and 4th, 3 points, is also the smallest ever in EICH, replacing the 9 points differential by Schwarzl from 2005.
* Krauchanka is the first to win both the European Indoor Championships and the European Junior Championships.
* Sintnicolaas tied the best mark for 4th place, 6175 (by Dvorak from 1998).
* Krauchaka won first gold for Belarus in Heptathlon in EICH.
* El Fassi won first silver for France in the Heptathlon in EICH (although they have won gold and bronze).
* El Fassi's 1000m time, 2:34.19, is the fastest 1000m during the Heptathlon in EICH, replacing 2:34.29 by Damasek from 1996.
Women's 3000m:
* Syreva won the first silver for Russia (not counting URS) in the women's 3000m in EICH.
* For the second time in history of EICH, the athlete from the same nation (Great Britain) won 3000m men (Farah) and 3000m women (Clitheroe). First was Spain in 2002 when A. Garcia and Dominguez won 3000m in Wien.
Men's 800m:
* For the second time in the history of EICH, a nation (Poland) won both gold and silver in the Men's 800m. Previously L.J. Gonzalez and Arconada won gold and silver in 1992.
Women's 800m:
* Russian have won this event in the last four EICH.
* Meadows won first silver for Great Britain in women's 800m in EICH (they have already won gold)
Women's Long Jump:
* Klishina is the fifth Long Jumper to win both European Indoor and European Junior Championships (previously: Nygrynova, Drechsler, May and Johansson).
* Russian female long jumper (not counting URS) won gold for the first time in EICH.
Women's High Jump:
* Jungmark won first bronze for Sweden in the event in EICH (they have already won gold and silver).
Women's 60m:
* Povh and Ryemyen won first gold and silver for Ukraine (not counting URS) in the women's 60m in EICH.
* Ukraine won gold and silver; previously GDR had won gold and silver twice (Göhr and Koch in 1979, Göhr and Gladisch in 1983).
* Okparaebo won first women's 60m bronze for Norway (they have already won silver) ain EICH.
Men's 60m:
* Obikwelu won first gold for Portugal in the event in EICH.
* Great Britain's winning streat in men's 60m in EICH was snapped at five.
Women's Pole Vault:
* Rogowska won first gold for Poland in women's PV in EICH.
* Spiegelburg recorded the best mark for second place (4.75) in EICH, tying the mark recorded by Rogowska from 2005.
Men's Triple Jump:
* Tamgho is the first male triple jumper to win both European Indoor and World Junior Championships.
* Best marks for place for 1st (17.92 WIR), 2nd (17.73) and 3rd (17.62) positions were set for indoor Triple Jump.
* Donato won first silver for Italy in men's Triple Jump (they have already won gold meal) in EICH.
Women's 4x400m Relay:
* France won their first medal in this event in EICH.
Men's 4x400m Relay:
* France won their second gold in this event in EICH, tying most gold medals with Poland.
* Belgium won their first medal in this event in EICH.
* 3:06.17 by France is the fastest ever in France by a European team.
