Shkolina upsets Vlašić in Eberstadt

Russian Svetlana Shkolina created an upset when she defeated Croatian high jump star Blanka Vlašić with a clearance of 1.99m at the 33rd Eberstadt High Jump meet.
It is an outdoor personal best for the 25-year-old and the second best mark this year in the world behind Vlašić’s 2.00m achieved in Split.
Vlašić had to settle for the second place after she failed thrice to clear 2.01m. The reigning world champion cleared 1.97m on her first attempt and then decided to pass 1.99m.
