Thorkildsen throws 90.61m world season best

Javelin star Andreas Thorkildsen became the first man in the world this year to launch the spear over 90 metres when he threw 90.61m at the Norwegian national championships in Byrkjelo on Sunday.

“The conditions were really good, perhaps too good with the strong wind, but still a little tricky. However, these are the type of circumstances that should be exploited to get big throws. The first two throws were just to get started, mainly to check and adjust my run up; then it was time to let loose!” said Thorkildsen.
