World Athletes of the Year 2016

Two Jamaican stars, all-time great Usain Bolt and double Olympic sprint champion Elaine Thompson are the male and female Athletes of the Year respectively according to All-Athletics.com, the world leading track and field statistics website.

 All-Athletics.com World Athlete of the Year in 2016: 

Male: Usain Bolt (Jamaica)

Female: Elaine Thompson (Jamaica)

 

 

Olympic 400m champion and World record holder, Wayde van Niekerk of South Africa is ranked 2nd among the male Athletes while sprint-hurdles sensation Omar McLeod of Jamaica and Kenya's Olympic and unbeaten Diamond Race champion steeplechase runner, Conseslus Kipruto shared the 3rd position.

In the women's ranking Thompson just edged out for the first place Ethiopia's Almaz Ayana, who won the 10000m in Rio with a fantastic world record. The leading duo is followed by Bahrain's Olympic and Diamond Race 3000m steeplechase champion and world record holder, Ruth Jebet.
