PALM CITY, Fla. – Taking a field that features nine teams in the top 50 of the current Golfstat rankings, No. 23 Arkansas finished the first day of play at the Valspar Collegiate held at Floridian National Golf in a tie for 11th place. All 14 teams in the field finished over-par on the challenging par 71 layout that stretched over 7,100 yards.

Arkansas four-man score of 303 is just three strokes out of the top half of the loaded field and within the reach of the three teams in the top 30. No. 14 Texas A&M has the first round lead at four-over 288.

The Razorbacks will return to the course for the second round of the three-day event, playing alongside No. 12 LSU and No. 33 South Carolina. The trio of teams will begin on holes 4-7 at the 12:30 p.m. CT shotgun start.

Playing as an individual, freshman Mason Overstreet posted a one-over 72 on the day to lead all Razorbacks. Overstreet put together three straight birdies on holes 5-7 and finished with a team-best five on the day to position himself in a tie for 11th overall in the 78-player field.

Sophomore Charles Kim turned in the lowest counting score towards the four-man 303 with a two-over 73, highlighted by a one-under 35 on the course’s back nine where all four of his birdies came. It marks the third time this year that Kim has been Arkansas’ low-man. The reigning SEC Freshman of the Week, Luis Garza turned in a 75 that included an even-par 36 on the back.
